The Nature Conservancy selected this image as one of 35 finalists in their 2009 annual photography contest, which received more than 100,000 entries from around the world.

In 2010 it also received an Honorable Mention in the Wildlife Category of the Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy Photo Competition.
